Most silicone sealant packaging indicates the types of materials it can bond, and some even specify the bonding strength for different materials. Consumers should carefully read the instructions before purchasing silicone sealant. There are also some points to note when using silicone sealant, otherwise it will affect its lifespan.
Applying silicone sealant also requires specific steps. First, remove moisture, grease, dust, and other contaminants from the joint surface, ensuring it is thoroughly clean and dry. Then, cut the nozzle of the sealant tube, attach the tip, and cut it at a 45° angle according to the joint size. Next, attach the caulking gun and, maintaining a 45° angle, press the sealant along the joint, ensuring close contact between the sealant and the substrate surface. When the joint width is greater than 15 mm, multiple applications of sealant may be necessary.
